9m88(조앤바바)는 대만과 미국을 주 배경으로 활동 중인 싱어송라이터이다. R&B, 재즈, 힙합 등 다양한 장르의 음악 활동뿐만 아니라 연기, 팟캐스트, 패션 및 비주얼 아트 등 여러 영역을 넘나드는 아시아 대표 아티스트이자 만능 크리에이터이다. 2019년 발매한 첫 정규 앨범 [Beyond Mediocrity]으로 대만 최대 인디음악 시상식인 골든 인디 뮤직 어워즈(Golden Indie Music Awards)에서 최우수 신인상을 수상했다.
대만에서 단독 공연을 연이어 매진시키는 9m88는 도쿄의 SUMMER SONIC, 홍콩의 Clockenflap, 뉴욕의 SummerStage에 서며 국제적 음악적 행보를 이어가고 있다. 2020년에는 88rising이 주최하는 ASIA RISING FOREVER에 초청받았으며, 2023년에는 SXSW 공식 쇼케이스 아티스트로 이름을 올렸다.
9m88(a.k.a. Baba) is an R&B singer-songwriter based in Taipei and New York. She is one of the foremost Asian artists whose music spans a variety of genres, including R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop and pop as well as crossing over into creative fields such as acting, podcasting, fashion and visual arts.
Her debut album, [Beyond Mediocrity], released in 2019, won Best New Artist at the Golden Indie Music Awards, Taiwan’s largest indie music award. Besides her sold-out solo concerts in Taiwan, she has embarked on an international musical journey, performing at renowned stages such as SUMMER SONIC in Tokyo, Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival in Hong Kong, and SummerStage in Central Park in New York. Notably, she was invited to perform at ASIA RISING FOREVER, organized by 88rising in 2020 and was invited to the SXSW Tiger Den Showcase in SXSW in 2023.
